I'm JMDwrite.
James Duncan.

A communications professional with 40+ years' experience in all aspects of effective communication:

  • as a journalist in mainstream media;
  • in corporate communication to executive level, working for blue-chip corporate employers; and
  • then in consulting, helping multiple corporate clients to communicate effectively at every stage in their evolution, from start-up, to operation/production, to closure.

Often at the “sharp end” when crises and challenges arise.

What is communication?


It is more than an art. In today's world, effective communication is as much a science.

The more it is researched, experimented with and results acted upon through planning, re-engineering and monitoring, the greater the chances of success. The more so if communication is built professionally into overall business plans.

So what?


Reputation is king, for individuals and organisations.

Spelling mistakes and bad grammar, together with poor presentation/delivery, call reputation and competence into question, particularly with discerning decision-makers.

I can help you develop your personal communication skills – and those of your employees – using tried and tested training and mentoring processes, many of which I have spent years developing myself.

I have worked for years with graphic designers, digital media practitioners, translators, printers, photographers, videographers and social media experts, establishing a network of skilled, trusted freelance professionals in these fields that I manage personally to ensure you get the quality of communication tools you want, need and can afford.

Crisis communication management


Crises happen, often when least expected. Their consequences can be devastating to individuals in charge and/or whole organisations if not anticipated, prepared for and managed from a communication perspective. The impact can well be material on share price, marketing targets and reputation in the marketplace. I can either step in as required to help on this front, or better still, through risk assessment, prepare for eventualities.

With so much communication being done via electronic media these days, it is sometimes good to have a written record. I can help with providing written documentation of what you say in live and recorded interviews.
